The Health and Social Care sector is dependent on passionate and fully trained, skilled professionals and is a crucial part of UK society. Are you someone who is considering a career in a health and social or early years setting? This can include: midwife, mental health nurse, paramedic, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, SEND coordinator, police officer or a social worker. If that is you then you should consider this course. This course will enable you to develop an understanding of key concepts and a body of knowledge that will provide you with an independent and informed perspective on contemporary issues in health, social care and early years settings. The course also covers working with individuals with additional needs and looks at: statutory care; benefits; adapting environments to individual needs; patient centered and holistic care.
As a student on this course you will learn to develop transferable skills that are highly valued by employers and communication skills common to the health and social care sectors. These could include hospitals, nursing homes, primary schools, prisons and residential homes. You will also explore the roles of practitioners in health and social care to gain an insight into their responsibilities which will help you reflect on your suitability to follow a career in these areas. This qualification provides students with the opportunity to gain vocational experience and gain the knowledge and understanding needed when considering entering employment in the health and social care sector.
