Pre-covid book club

Working with public library to acquire books our school library doesn't currently have. 

Ereaders are available to be checked out for easier access to ebooks. 

Provide a diverse assortment of titles so that every student can see him / her / themselves represented in a book. 

Joined district literacy team to stay informed of new happenings in the district.  

Creating monthly book recommendations videos to be played in ELA classrooms at the middle and high school. 

Started a battle of the books at middle and high school.

Piloted reading incentive program at the high school.

Rework the incentive reading program piloted last year. 

Creating more book displays highlighting groups celebrated during each month (e.g.  November - National American Indian Heritage month, March - Woman's history month, etc...)

Restart my email signature in which I mention the book I've read and the one I'm currently-a  subtle nudge to staff and students to reflect on their reading habits. 

Explorer restarting student (and possibly staff) book club.

Use reading scores  and discussions with ELA teachers to identify students who appear not to enjoy reading and work towards impoving their engagment.
