Art 1 Beginning
Grade: 6, 7, 8
Prerequisite: None
Art 1 MS is a concept based class intended for students with no prior art experience. Students will work with a variety of processes and materials such as painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, fiber, and digital media. Students rely on their perceptions of the environment, developed through increasing visual awareness and sensitivity to surroundings, memory, imagination, and life experiences as a source for creating artworks. Art 1 includes the study of works of art and cultures along with critiquing their own art and the works of other artists.
Art 2 Intermediate
Grade: 7,8
Prerequisite: Art 1 MS
Art 2 MS is an intermediate art class that will build on skills and concepts from Art 1. Students will work with a variety of processes and materials such as painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, fiber, and digital media. Students rely on their perceptions of the environment, developed through increasing visual awareness and sensitivity to surroundings, memory, imagination, and life experiences as a source for creating artworks. Art 2 includes the study of works of art and cultures along with critiquing their own art and the works of other artists.
Art 1 (High School credit):
Grade: 8th only
Prerequisite: Level I and II Art
Art provides a study of the art elements and principles through experience with a variety of art media and tools in design, drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture; an exploration of art history and culture; and an evaluation of artwork through discussion and critique.

Q: How will I be graded?
A: At the start of school we have you do a drawing so we know where you are starting from in skills and knowledge. Your projects will be graded using a rubric and progress shown from that first drawing. You will not be graded against other students, just following the project expectations and your own abilities.
