ARTS, A/V TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATIONS (AAVTC) CAREER CLUSTER®The Arts, A/V Technology and Communications (AAVTC) Career Cluster® focuses on careers in designing, producing, exhibiting, performing, writing, and publishing multimedia content including visual and performing arts and design, journalism, and entertainment services. Careers in the AAVTC Career Cluster require a creative aptitude, a strong background in computer and technology applications, a strong academic foundation, and a proficiency in oral and written communication.

1. What exactly is the class about?
Principles of AV Arts & Communications and Technology is a foundational course to introduce the “Arts” cluster of Career and Technical Education (CTE). This introductory course provides an outlook on Graphic design, audio and video production, printing and imagery, and Fashion Design.
2. Will they be using Photoshop?
As a unit in the AV ARTS course, students will learn about digital and graphic design. Photoshop is included in this unit.
3. Will they be coding?
Unfortunately, coding is not covered in this course, we have a tech apps course where students will learn coding and programming.
4. Do they get High School credit?
Each student will earn the High School credit associated with the class.
5. Will they be making videos?
Students will learn industry-standard video production practices. Students will then apply those practices in-class projects designated by the instructor.
6. What do they need for class?
Students will be provided with computers, tablets, cameras, smart boards, and many other digital devices for use in class. Required materials for this course is a 16gb flash drive/thumb drive or larger.
7. Will they have homework?
Each class may have homework assignments to do, even projects they can do at home. All assignments will be available via the course website.
8. What If I don’t have the software?
There are software alternatives available online, often free of charge. Students that need to work at home will be provided with the alternative if it is an in-class software being used.
9. Do I need to buy a camera?
No. Students will be provided with all they need for class. Students that take an interest in photography or videography may be interested in purchasing their own equipment, but that is totally up to the parent and student.
