If you are interested in exploring what it is like to be a school-based leader, then plan on participating in the Aspiring Leaders Program in January. Assignments include reviewing best practices, interaction with a mentor in your district currently serving as a leader, and includes an opportunity to actual perform some of the duties of a leader at your school.
Participants met virtually as a group three times.
This online course is offered in the Moodle platform.
Registration requires district-level approval since there is a fee for participating.
Additional coursework and regular mentor meetings was required.
A new cohort begins every January.
NEFEC's Aspiring Leaders Program (ALP) is designed for experienced teachers with leadership potential who desire to explore the possibility of becoming a school leader.
This 40-hour program consists of three modules:
School Leadership explores the practice of effective leadership, and analysis of school/district data
The Leader as Coach introduces the participants to instructional coaching and the use of conversation to assist teachers with instruction.
The Leader as Administrator investigates the roles and responsibilities of the school leader including practical problem solving and ethical leadership.
Each participant is required to have a local leader mentor to collaborate with over the course of the program.
