MDVS is a franchise of FLVS. Franchise instructors and MDVS team are informed on FLVS policies and procedures. We must adhere to them to ensure that we are able to continue the franchise relationship with FLVS.
The two links below will take you to the most up-to-date information on policies and procedures. Mei-Ling Hickey is the Franchise Training Manager. Please do not hesitate to reach out to her for questions. She also offers daily open office hours at 1:00 PM EST.
The training begins with the self-paced training module linked above. Work through that module within a week of beginning with MDVS.
Next, you will attend a Live session with Mei-Ling Hickey, our Franchise Training Manager. Her meetings are currently held on Tuesdays from 10AM - 12PM. You must register for this session via this link. Please remember to indicate that you are with MyDistrict Virtual School (not your home district). Once you have completed the live session, you are done.
If you cannot attend the live session, you may request a recording of a session. Once you have watched the recording, you will schedule a 40-minute "wrap-up" call with Mei-Ling to review important requirements for teaching on the FLVS platform. You can text her at 407-405-8828 to set up a call.
Finally, MDVS staff will receive an email from Mei-Ling alerting us that you have completed training and are ready for students.
She hosts a daily Open Office Hour from 1 PM - 2 PM daily unless she is out of the office. You can join that open meeting using this link.
You should have access to all of these platforms.
Educator is your primary platform for communicating with students and parents. Educator is an email system while VSA is a messaging system. What does that mean for you?
If you want a student or caregiver to see information quickly, send it via Educator. Use VSA as a place for documentation only. If you send a message in VSA, the receiver has to log in to VSA to get it. They are not informed via email that a message exists for them in VSA.
Student requests the course in the registration system. (Course Request – CR)
This occurs in FLVS Master Admission and Registration System which connects to the Virtual School Administration (VSA). This process can take up to 24 hours.
Guidance does not approve the course (Course Request Incomplete – CRI)
Guidance approves the course (Course Request Complete – CRC)
This occurs in Virtual School Administration (VSA). This process is immediate.
Course sits in CRC without placement (Never Assigned - NAs), very rarely happens
MDVS staff place the student with a teacher (Classroom Assigned – CA)
This occurs in Virtual School Administration (VSA) and then between 6-24 hours the student is added to the course in Educator.
Student doesn’t return welcome call and teacher changes the status using the Action feature on the teacher dashboard (Never Activated NAc)
Instructor has the welcome call and the student is Activated (Active – A)
Student has 28 days to meet grace period which is 20% of the course and a passing grade (60% or above).
Student is dropped due to not meeting grace period (Withdrawn – W)
Student stops working after grace period and teacher halts student progress (Contact Instructor – CI)
Within 6 – 24 hours Educator will suspend the student from working until you place back in Active status
Student stops working after grace period and teacher withdraws student
If passing (Withdrawn Passing – WP)
If failing (Withdrawn Failing – WF)
Student completes the course, but still wants access to it as they study for their EOC (Pending Exam – PE)
Student completes the course (Complete – C)
