In the Neenah Joint School District (NJSD), digital learning and associated tools will support classroom learning for all students. Additionally, the Neenah Joint School District Framework for Student Success focuses on achievement for ALL students by addressing the important components of curriculum and instruction. Digital learning supports great classroom instruction. To this end, NJSD values the use of digital tools by instructors to address the unique learning needs of each student. Consistent with the Framework for Student Success, NJSD believes that digital tools will support consistent, personalized feedback to students as it relates to 21st Century learning through a differentiated approach.
The purpose of integrating technology into key areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment is to provide supportive mechanisms in order to improve achievement for all students. Over the next three years we will use technology as a vehicle to shift our focus from the manner in which we teach students to the manner in which students learn. Using technology as a tool will create a student-focused system of learning.
Data gathered through the Clarity BrightBytes survey helps to support instruction, assessment, and curriculum by addressing student and staff gaps in instructional technology integration. According to the Clarity BrightBytes survey data, the Neenah Joint School District Instructional Technology Department, will focus on increasing teacher exposure to the positive impact of integrating the 4C's (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity) and digital citizenship across all levels. As this plan addresses a three-year cycle, we pledge to provide differentiated professional development for staff and coaching opportunities that include training, modeling, and co-teaching to ensure fidelity.
NJSD has provided the infrastructure to support a robust plan for technology integration into classroom learning through the 1:1 initiative in grades K-12, supported by the Clarity BrightBytes data. To provide equity across socioeconomic levels, NJSD will provide Kajeet wifi hotspots to the 7% of reported families without access at home. The use of distance learning tools such as GradPoint (™), and the technology to support the GEDO Option 2 (™) program, provide appropriate support for students who require additional support in navigating the variety of student pathways within NJSD.
