Calvin has taught high school science since 1993 (South Bend Washington 1993-94, Elkhart Central High School 1994-2008), and at Bethany Christian Schools (2008-present). Calvin has also been serving as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for those years at Bethany.
Calvin earned an A.A. from Hesston College, a B.A. in Chemistry from Goshen College, an M.S. in Chemistry from Purdue University, and a certificate in school administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. Calvin is also a member of the Evaluation Faculty for the School of Education at Western Governors University.
At QuarkNet, Calvin worked on Project GRAND from 2003 to 2020. Upon decommissioning of Project GRAND, Calvin has focused his efforts on preserving data and hardware from the project and integrating the data and hardware into the existing Cosmic Rays research group.
Significant accomplishments at Project GRAND during the period from 2003 to 2020 included overall maintenance and troubleshooting, redesign and deployment of new clock splitters and station electronics circuit boards, web interface automation, and data transfer and analysis.
