Born in Syracuse, NY, this elder millennial grew up as a part of the last generation of kids without cell phones and soical media in the suburbs of Liverpool with a curfew delineated not by an alarm or text message but by the turning on of the street lights at dusk. While earning her degree at Plattsburgh State University in the North Country of New York State, she made the commitment that art would be incorporated into all aspects of her future no matter where she landed. While in college, she was the Promotions Manager and a radio DJ at WQKE 93.9 FM, a Direct Support Specialist for the Advocacy and Resource Center, AND a white water raft guide.
She moved to Vermont permanently in 2004 via her work at Jay Peak as a snowboard instructor. She began work as a hay farmer and a florist, then moved into organic dairy farming while also running a small vegetable CSA in Westfield, VT. Starting her career in education as a Paraeducator in 2007, she founded the NCUHS Snowboard Team, then made her way into K-12 education and has taught visual arts at NCUHS ever since!
You can find Ms G either in her studio classroom in room 417 upstairs in the North Country Career Center, with music always playing in the background, or traveling with students on one of the many Visual Arts Enrichment Trips that she coordinates in places such as Europe, NYC, and Montreal! She invites you to get involved in the Arts and Communications Academy, Skit Night, and Visual Arts Enrichment Travel by going to visit her or by emailing for more information. At NCUHS, we are SO FORTUNATE to offer so many diverse opportunities in the Arts for deeper learning, participation, and getting an edge in an ever-more competitive job market post-graduation.
While there are so many ways to make a joyful and fruitful life as an artist, whether or not art is a part of your future goals, getting involved in our programming is the first step towards having a meaningful high school experience. Join the Fine Arts Program today!
