Note: "Comprehensive health education" means a systematic and extensive elementary and secondary educational program designed to provide a variety of learning experiences based upon knowledge of the human organism as it functions within its environment.

North Country Supervisory Union (NCSU) has formed a district-wide Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Team. This group, helps NCSU adhere to VT state law by supporting comprehensive health education in each school of the supervisory union. NCSU, through analysis of its existing health curriculum, has refined and adapted a comprehensive pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade health and wellness curriculum. The intent is to ensure the provision of comprehensive health education across all NCSU schools. Our objective is to endorse health literacy, offer the opportunity for students to acquire information, and build skills young people need to make quality health decisions.

Comprehensive school health education includes curricula and instruction for students in pre-K through grade 12 that address a variety of topics including, but not limited to:

            • Values
            • Social Emotional Health
            • Decision Making
            • Nutrition & Physical Activity
            • Healthy Relationships & Communication
            • Anti-Bullying/Harassment & Suicide Prevention
            • Violence Prevention
            • Sexual Health
            • Alcohol, Tobacco, Other Drug (ATOD) & Refusal Skills
