Community Involvement

Community groups, organizations, and local businesses create partnerships with schools and families. This ensures a sharing of resources in communities and promotes development of students' health literacy, social connectedness, and academic success. NCSU schools, students, and families benefit as many district-wide activities solicit and coordinate information, resources, and services available from community-based organizations, businesses, cultural and civic organizations, as well as other community groups.

  • North Country Supervisory Union students in grades 6-12 are asked to participate in an anonymous bi-annual questionnaire called the Youth Risk Behavior Survey. The YRBS was developed to monitor priority health risk behaviors such as:
            • Behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence
            • Physical activity
            • Nutrition
            • Weight status
            • Tobacco use
            • Alcohol and other drug use
            • Sexual behaviors

The results of the survey helps guide the state of VT and NCSU to increase support and/or education in topics statistically less healthy than the state averages.
