Family Engagement

NCSU recognized the importance of working together with families in order to establish, advance, and support the learning, development, and health of students. Families are encouraged to be committed to actively supporting their child’s learning and development in part by accessing each of our schools offerings of culturally specific activities and events that engage families in students' education and experiences. Family engagement with schools is a shared responsibility with families, school staff, and community partners. A positive functional relationship among school staff, families, and community supports reinforces student health and learning in multiple settings—at home, in school, in out-of-school programs, and in the community.

  • The Encore After-School and Summer Programs are a 21st Century Grant funded program run through North Country Supervisory Union. The mission of Encore is to enrich students and families by providing a nurturing environment and activities that promote academic achievement, wellness, character development, and life-long learning. Our vision is to be part of a rural community that expands, rather than limits, our children's dreams and opportunities. After school programs are offered at 10 sites in NCSU daily, from approximately the end of the school day, to 5:00 PM, and five weeks during the summer. Our programs serve a snack, provide homework help, and a one hour enrichment program in multitudes of subjects, including STEM, nutrition, literacy, arts, and exercise. Programs cost between $0 and $3 per day, depending on the site, however no child will ever be turned away due to inability to pay, and scholarships are available at every site.”
  • All schools offer sports, music, arts, field trips, field days, concerts, awards events, and much more that are open to the parents or caregivers. You can contact your local school to learn more: https://www.ncsuvt.org/about-ncsu/our-schools
