Learning and instructional technology are rapidly advancing into the virtual and augmented reality space to enhance learning experiences and knowledge acquisition for students. For this assignment, we were tasked in educating instructors about a specific VR/AR technology that can be used in a classroom.
I chose to focus on MergeCube, an educational technology aimed at cultivating curiosity, exploration, and creativity within the student learning experience.
I decided to also combine this project with another one of my courses focused on learning theory in educational environments. Check out the padlet I created on this topic below.
This project challenged me with the specific task of learning a technology, experimenting and using it on my own to then know how to explain and train someone to use it. This is very important when it comes to instructional design because it is often that IDs are thrown into situations where they need to become a SME on a technology in order to teach it to others for their use and mastery of the topic. I had a lot of fun developing this video and learning the AR technology, and was able to utilize the information I learned from this technology to analyze it from a learning theory standpoint.
