While studying abroad at the Lorenzo de Medici University in Florence, Italy, I enrolled in a brand design class that gave me insight on European design/branding. Through the duration of the course, we were tasked to create a business and brand for what our career goals are. I created O-Ed, an online education platform that makes online courses into a fun and engaging experience.
Below, I have my final brand-book for O-Ed. My project was featured in the student design showcase at the university. My professor, Valentino Coppi, a freelance graphic designer in Florence, mentored me in the process of designing my brand. His critique made me a better designer and I am now able to think in different ways that he taught me.
An important part of this course was learning about the different types of paper and how different coatings and textures can emit certain sensations of a brand. A representative from Fedrigoni, an Italian paper company that works with hundreds of brands to create physical products for storefronts, came to educate us on the different types of paper and assisted us in choosing the right ones for our brand.
I was able to physically print out my business cards on paper that matched my branding. Overall a very new and engaging experience.
Because graphic design is one of my passions, I was incredibly ecstatic about this course and was very grateful for the skillset I developed while learning from Valentino. I take a lot of care in creating instructional design experiences that are beautiful and pleasing to look at and navigate through, as intuitive design impacts and influences learner interaction.
In developing my graphic design skills as it related to color theory, typography, and UX/UI, I continue to incorporate these assets into my instructional design learning experiences.
