Community Partners

Authentic collaboration is a critical component of our work. This type of collaboration is consistent with literature about community-engaged scholarship in higher education and effective university-community partnerships. For example, we seek collaboration that centers on shared goals, fosters reciprocal relationships, promotes equal value of all members of the collaborative team, and allows for co-creation of knowledge and educational resources.

Community partners regularly include educators working in schools (e.g., principals, school psychologists, special education teachers, regular education teachers), directors of community-based organizations that aim to improve children’s education, and parents/caregivers of school-aged children. In addition, community partners sometimes include members from the community who are not directly affiliated with a specific community-partner organization. Instead, these community members want to work with our team because of their strong interest in our projects and goals.
