UPDATE: Kindergarteners are now welcome, as well! Please contact Coach Josh Galindo for information if you'd like to get your K-12th grade male or female athlete involved.
Dear Ascent Wrestling Families,
I’m excited to share some important updates as we prepare for the launch of our inaugural wrestling season here at Ascent Classical Academy. Elementary School Wrestling starts in September, High School Wrestling starts in November, and Middle School Wrestling starts in January.
We are officially bringing on an elementary club team, and with that, we are calling on our parents to get involved. In order to build a successful and sustainable youth program, we need parent participation and coaching support. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the sport, connect with other families, and grow alongside your athlete in their wrestling journey. You do NOT need wrestling or coaching experience to help - we will teach you all you need to know. Please contact me if you'd like to help. We do need several parent volunteers to commit in order to start an elementary team.
We are also actively seeking coaching help at all levels—not just elementary, but middle school and high school as well. In fact, we are currently looking for a head coach for the middle school team. Whether you’re an experienced wrestler or just eager to help, there is a role for everyone as we build something great.
As we get closer to the season, I’ll be sending out more emails with details for families interested in wrestling at any level. This will include where to purchase official Ascent Wrestling gear, such as shoes and headgear.
Each wrestler will also need to sign up for USA Wrestling and obtain a USA Wrestling Card, which provides insurance coverage for both practices and competitions. This is a requirement for participation.
I want to be clear—we’re not just starting a team; we’re building a championship culture from day one. I believe in being highly competitive from the start, and as soon as our mat arrives, we will begin scheduling open gyms and clinics to get our athletes on the mat as much as possible.
We are also committed to building a strong girls wrestling program alongside the boys team. My assistant coach and I have spent the past several years helping develop girls wrestling across Northern Colorado. I’ve personally coached both men and women at the collegiate and high school level, and I bring over 30 years of coaching experience in the U.S. and internationally.
My vision is bold: I want our wrestlers not only competing here in Colorado, but eventually on the national and international stage. I have big hopes, huge dreams, and the experience to make them a reality. This program is going to hit the ground running, and I want your family to be a part of it.
If you have any questions or are interested in helping coach, volunteer, or simply want to be included in future communication about the wrestling program, please email me directly at josh.galindo@nc.ascentcolorado.org.
I look forward to meeting each of you and launching a dominant, virtue-driven wrestling program here at Ascent. Please feel free to browse the Wrestling Gear Store.
