Dear Families,
Last week, I shared our first Call to Action when applications opened and we asked you to spread the word. Today, I’m excited to share the second: An invitation to join us in Colorado Gives on behalf of our school.
In conversations with many of you, I have heard a clear and shared desire for the second phase of our school building, which will likely come from our network selling more bonds. While we continue to work diligently toward that long-term goal, we also want to create an excellent educational experience for our students today.
Our per-pupil funding allows us to operate comfortably, though frugally. To enhance our programs and sustain our growth, we pursue additional resources through grants and community support. This year, we’ve identified three immediate priorities that will significantly impact our students’ experience:
1. Teacher Retention
We want to pay our teachers a wage that reflects their skill, expertise, and dedication. When teachers leave, it is almost always due to financial necessity, not lack of passion. Excellent instruction and well-developed courses come from experience and longevity. Each year a teacher remains, their breadth and depth increase, greatly benefiting the students under their care. Recurring giving helps sustain higher salaries, but even one time donations can contribute to end-of-year bonuses.
2. More and Varied Student Experiences
Our students deserve a landscape that invites investigation, play, and creativity. The first-time capital costs to support athletics, art, science, and electives have at times stretched our budget. Modest investments in equipment for physical education, art, and science, along with expanding elective offerings, would have an immediate and lasting impact on student life.
3. Environmental Improvements
Beauty and order elevate learning. Simple upgrades such as refreshed bathrooms, carpeted lower-grammar classrooms, improved lighting, and art on the walls help transform our space into one that feels warm and inspiring. These enhancements allow students to study in a pleasant and lovely environment while we await the completion of our new building.
Colorado Gives is a foundation-driven, statewide campaign created to support nonprofit organizations like ours. This year, we are partnering with them during the November 1–December 9 “Wave of Generosity” campaign. Donations made through Colorado Gives are boosted by an incentive fund, and new recurring (monthly) donations are matched up to $100.
Our goal is to develop a community of 300 households committed to giving $300 per year ($25 per month). Achieving this will add $90,000 to our annual budget, resources that will directly benefit our students and teachers.
How to Give
Our website has an embedded Colorado Gives link. In the future, you can also visit our homepage and click on GIVE in the upper right-hand corner.
Many of you are already contributing, and we sincerely thank you for your continued partnership and generosity. Each contribution, large or small, helps us provide an environment worthy of our students and the classical education they are pursuing. I am also making a commitment to you to share where fundraised dollars are allocated.
Warmly,
Annie Hiatt
Headmistress
