Literacy; (Following the Literacy Essentials program out of Hillsdale College)  - Note: Please see my Literacy Essentials page for more information on this read-to-write program to know why we do not send spelling lists home.

• Review target phonograms 1-55 and 56-72

• New words introduced daily from List G

• Sentence writing - dictated and original - 4 types of sentences - declarative, interrogative, imperative and exclamatory

• Reading List E to be practiced at home and with partners during the week

• Practice Test on Friday - List F 

• Review grammar & spelling rules already taught

• action verbs and state of being verbs

• review nouns and verbs

• irregular verbs

Math:

• Chapter 11 Dimensions 1B (Singapore Math):  Comparing - How many more X than Y?  How many fewer Y than X?  Example: Students will see a picture of 10 cups and 6 coasters. There are ______ more cups than coasters. There are _____ fewer coasters than cups. 

• Daily math fact practice T-Th - (individualized with students moving on to next set of 20 problems once 18 out of 20 has been achieved)

•  Friday Math fact subtraction within 10 - standardized - 27 out of 30 is score desired to indicate fluency, however some students are still working up to this point, so we are looking to beat the score from the previous week.

Discovery Studies: 

• History: Discovery of the Americas - Maya and Inca

• Science: Plant and Animal survival 

• Literature:  Fables
