READING LISTS - FOR PRACTICE AT HOME

Our literacy program is a write-to-read program. You can find more information about it on my Literacy Essentials page.  We practice writing approximately 48 words for 2 weeks. Then, we take a master spelling test (following a practice test). The words then become a reading list which is sent home for reading accuracy and fluency.

Please practice reading lists at home regularly for fluency until your child can read a list correctly in one minute or less. Please record the date and score at the bottom of the page.

Starting after the Christmas break, could you please send the list back to school once your child is able to read the list with you accurately in one minute? Thank you!

A new reading list will be sent home approximately every two weeks.

Note: This procedure for spelling will continue in both 2nd and 3rd grade
