A DANGEROUS ESCAPE

A girl is driving her car along the highway. It is late in the evening and there are few cars around. There is no one in the car with her, but you can hear the car radio playing some old rock music. At a certain point the music stops for a news bulletin. The announcer gives the news of a brutal murder, which took place a few kilometers from there. The still unknown killer brutally killed the staff of a restaurant along a side street. Investigators fear that the killer may be hiding around there and warn everyone to pay close attention. But the girl has a problem. The gas in her tank is running out and, if she doesn't want to be left on foot, she has to stop at a petrol station. Luckily, there is one on the horizon and she decides to enter, trying to do everything as quickly as possible. After what she heard on the radio, she doesn't like hanging around. At the gas pump she finds a man, dressed in the uniform of the oil company. It's old and run down, as well as blunt, but it doesn't look dangerous. She asks him to fill her up. She remains seated inside the car, constantly looking at the rear-view mirrors to keep an eye on the gas station attendant. Everything looks normal, but the girl doesn't trust that guy. There does not seem to be anyone else around, although in the building next to the distributor there is a light on and perhaps there is someone inside. The seconds are endless while the tank fills with petrol. The girl cannot take her eyes off the mirrors, while the gas station attendant shows a somewhat artificial carelessness. Afraid of the silence, the girl turns on the car radio again. There is another news report that the police cannot find the killer. There are no descriptions or identikits, but now we know the car with which he escaped. It's a blue Ford, a model from a few years ago. The girl looks around quickly. Now that she notices them, there are a couple of cars parked next to the building, in the distance. She can't see them well, and she doesn't know too much about them either, but one is blue. One is blue, for sure, and old. She whips around and sees the gas station attendant knocking on the window. Her heart breaks, but the man has no weapon in his hand. Indeed, he points to something, perhaps that blue car itself. Had he heard the news too? The girl rolls down the window, slowly. "Yes?" He tells her. “To pay, you have to go in there. The box is there, "the man explains. And, having said that, he goes and sits down on a chair a few meters away. The girl takes her handbag and slowly gets out of the car, constantly looking around. It is now getting dark and the lighting is poor. However, the fact that the attendant is not accompanying her means that there is someone else in there and that the two are not alone. When she enters, in fact, she sees an old lady - perhaps his wife -Checkout. The place also serves as a convenience store, however, and the girl notices that there is a man in his forties wandering among the shelves. She stares at him for a few seconds, also because he doesn't seem to be buying anything. "Do you have to pay for the petrol?" Asks the lady at the cash desk, distracting her from her thoughts. Yes - the girl says, turning her back on the man. How much do I owe you?" A few minutes later a car enters the same distributor. It goes very slowly. There is a boy driving. He goes to the petrol pump but sees no attendant. He wonders if it's a self-service vending machine, but he doesn't see the machine in which to put the money. However, there is another car parked there. Try to look inside the window but the passenger compartment is empty. He then decides to go to the building a few meters away, from where a light comes. When he is almost at the door, a shadow falls upon him and is running out. «Excuse me, I was looking for ...» The person does not answer and runs away. The boy touches his shoulder where he just got hit and sees a bloodstain. At that point, unaware of the killer, he enters the building. On the ground, riddled with shots, he sees the elderly cashier, the gas station attendant and the man who was previously walking around the shelves. While the girl- killer, with her pistol in her purse, continues to go around the highway.
