Seth Ordway

UMaine Early College Program

Seth Ordway is the Early College Counselor with the University of Maine. Seth was made part of the Early College Program team in the summer of 2021 as an Administrative Specialist. Prior to, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and taught middle school English for a year. He also earned a Master’s of Education in Higher Education in the spring of 2024.

As part of his role, Seth oversees the enrollment process for all Early College students at two campuses within the seven-campus UMaine system. He advises students regularly around entry into the program, course choices, and dropping or withdrawing from class sections. Additionally, he manages UMaine’s Early College Pathway program, where he has been integral in designing accessible academic pathways that serve as guides for students to be purposeful in their pursuit of college credit. He assists students in identifying their goals and areas of interest, choosing appropriate pathways, developing plans for completion, and tracking their progress toward completion. While heading this program, Seth has contributed greatly to the creation of an online system developed for all UMaine system campuses to integrate their Pathways program directly into student’s enrollment process, making it more accessible, and increasing the capacity for collaborative advising.

In his free time, Seth will more-than-likely be found scaling the many mountains of Maine and New England—hopefully successfully, but never without at least a few sighs, thoughts of “why do I do this to myself,” and occasionally a swear word or two, along the way.
