NEACEP HISTORY

2013.
May 29. Over a hundred dual and concurrent enrollment professionals in New England, from high schools and colleges, state departments of education, and regional educational organizations convened at a day-long conference at the University of Connecticut Storrs Campus, entitled “Concurrent and Dual Enrollment in New England: Innovation and Trends,” jointly sponsored by UConn’s Early College Experience program and NACEP.
November. NEACEP was founded at an organizing meeting at Manchester Community College (NH) just a few months after NACEP announced that it had started to accept applications for organizations to become state or regional chapters. Approximately 40 dual and concurrent enrollment professionals from all six New England states attended the first meeting and voted to pursue the Application to become a Regional Chapter of NACEP, agreed on the name New England Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships, and formed a Steering Committee with one volunteer from each state.
2014.
November. NEACEP offered its first annual professional development program, co- sponsored by NACEP, at Nashua Community College (NH), entitled “The New NEASC/NESCHE Standards for Dual Enrollment: Understanding the Impact for Our Colleges.”
2015.
January. NEACEP requested applications for membership and a vote on by-laws. March. First election of officers and members at-large for the Board of Directors.
November 17. Second Annual NEACEP Conference, Northern Essex Community College, MA.
July 1. Newly elected Board of Directors assumed office.
July 9. First meeting of the NEACEP Board of Directors.
