Coffee Talk: What are pathways and what are their benefits in early college (dual and concurrent enrollment)?
Brian Boecherer, Olive Shade Consulting
Description: Two-year and Four-year IHE often see pathways as different things. For some they are useful, for others they are seen as a trap for students too young to make an informed choice. This talk will frame pathways as a tool for building student identity and advising and discuss how some programs have been using pathways in their programs.
Materials: Pathways Spreadsheet

Coffee Talk: The “Program of One” — Managing Dual/Concurrent Enrollment with Excellence (recording available on NEACEP YouTube)
Join us for a focused conversation on what it means to run a dual/concurrent enrollment program as a “Program of One.” Many programs rely on a single person to manage communications, registrations, billing, accreditation requirements, faculty engagement, site visits, and more—while still upholding high academic and operational standards. Our panelists will share practical strategies, personal experiences, and creative solutions for balancing these responsibilities without sacrificing quality. Whether you oversee a small program or want to strengthen your processes, this session will offer valuable insights and actionable takeaways.

Coffee Talk: AI as an Advising Tool: Enhancing Academic and Career Planning for Dual Credit Students
Syreeta Washington, Assistant Professor and Counselor, University of Hawaiʻi - Leeward CC
Syreeta Washington will share research-informed and practice-based strategies for using generative AI as a student-centered tool in academic planning and career exploration. Drawing from her experience in higher education counseling, she will demonstrate how AI can support advising conversations, decision-making, and student engagement—particularly within concurrent and dual enrollment contexts. Participants will be introduced to Google Gemini Gems and explore practical ways to leverage this tool to enhance academic planning and pathway exploration for dual credit students.
To prepare for this interactive coffee talk, participants are encouraged to review their institution’s policies on generative AI tools and identify which platforms are supported. Please log into a Google account and open Gemini Gems prior to the session so you can follow along during the demonstration.
