Reflecting on the learning experience:
A theoretical perspective or a more theory is not just an idea that a social worker has but it is also a structural framework, explanation and a tool that has been tested and evaluated over time. Theories help the social worker understand the world in general and for all how families are formed, function, interacted with, and different experiences in the world. The social worker sits with various topics that should be looked at for example, equity, social problems and the sociological imagination that are important to understand equity and the families in a course. A theoretical perspective is a set of assumptions about reality that inform the questions we ask and the kinds of answers we arrive at as a result. In this sense, a theoretical perspective can be understood as a lens through which we look, serving to focus or distort what we see. It can also be thought of as a frame, which serves to both include and exclude certain things from our view. In order to do that, they must first understand what makes their clients tick. As a social worker, studying different social work theories and social work practice models can help to bring you closer to your clients equipping you with actionable insights that inform empathetic, evidence-based service. Inspired by the scientific method, social work theories uncover the why of human behaviour, while social work practice models reveal how you can effect change for individuals, couples, families, and communities at large. As a social worker, more knowledge can lead to a more informed approach, and more effective client interactions (Theories and Practice Models used in Social Work, 2022). For example, during the community report, the student had to do walk abouts in their own community and explain it what happens in their community and what they have to serve for the people that needs help. The student also had to do research on a specific organization that matched the problem in their story or their case. Also in the intervention report, in all three phases the social worker had to help the student to remain in contact with his/ her family and to keep faith even if his/ her parents are not together. Stated in the report, the student has to remain and be open with his and family members about his problems.
