Reflecting on the learning experience:
As a social worker the quality of the service offered to the people who engage with social workers should act ethically. Respect for human rights and a commitment to promoting social justice are the core of social work practice throughout the world. Social work values are based on respect for equality, worth and dignity of all people, it focused on meeting human needs and developing human potential. Human rights and social justice serve as the motivation and justification for social work action in solidarity with the disadvantage. The profession strives to alleviate poverty and to work with vulnerable and oppressed people to promote social inclusion. Social work practice is based on the academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and all empowerment of people. Principles of justice, human rights, respect for diversity and central social work. In the BSW standards it states that one should treat all people with respect and dignity irrespective of the persons culture and ethical beliefs, gender, nationality, language, religion, disability, and sexual orientation. The ability to develop relationships with people, and to work with diverse population groups. As stated in the student’s reflective diversity report, you should acknowledge the persons basic dignity, have empathy for someone that is going through a tough time and try and help where you can. Respect the person, no matter the religion, age, or gender.
