Throughout my studies and practical application, I learned that macro settings involve not only involves policy advocacy buy also addressing broader issues such as poverty, inequality, and access to resources. I gained an insight into the importance of community mobilization, policy advocacy, and recognising effective intervention requires collaboration among various stakeholders. One significant lesson was the value of collaboration with stakeholders in the organisation and the community of focus as this speed up the intervention process. Although I was not involved in the process of gathering needs assessments, I learned that successful macro intervention involves comprehensive needs assessments that are relevant and sustainable. Participating in macro practice has deepened my understanding of my role as a social worker beyond casework. It has highlighted my responsibilities to advocate for vulnerable populations and advocate for change addressing social inequalities at a broader level. I believe working with a multidisciplinary team that encourages participation and dialogues among diverse groups has helped me to develop professional and personal growth in understanding different cultures and self. Moving forward I aim to enhance my skills in policy analysis and advocacy. Additionally, I seek mentorship from experience macro practitioner who can provide guidance on navigating complex systems as I plan to open a community learning center back at home.
