The Game
What was Crescendo?
The 2024 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) game is called Crescendo. The game revolves around a music-themed challenge where two alliances, each composed of three teams, compete to score points by completing tasks. The primary game pieces are rings known as "Notes," which teams must deliver to specific goals on the field, called the "Speaker" or "Amp."
Scoring Notes: Teams try to score as many Notes as possible, with 18 Notes scored during the teleoperated period earning the alliance a ranking point.
Endgame: In the final 30 seconds of the match, teams can earn additional points by climbing onto a chain, a task called getting "onstage." If two robots from the same alliance manage to climb onto the same chain, it results in a "harmony," earning extra ranking points.
The game’s theme and tasks are designed to simulate a musical performance, adding an exciting, creative twist to the competition.
Our Robot
Our robot had the ability to suck up and shoot "notes" through the mechanisms of spinning rubber wheels. The head & neck of "Blue" could move from 0 to 90 degrees at set positions to shoot into either the "amp" or "speaker". The robot was at first designed with a rolling chain and 2 vertical aluminum bars at the front to hang on the "stage" and possibly score the "trap" but resulted in the removal of this function for better performance. "Blue" won our first tournament, placed 2nd at our following tournament, and made an appearance at the State Championship. Our robot's name and design was inspired from the velociraptor named "Blue" in the film "Jurassic World".

Team Update
We went from 5 students to 39 students in one year, and hope to increase even more along the way.
(MENTOR)
One of the most fun seasons I have been a part of. We had problem after problem but overcame it all as a team and got our first ever event win. Can’t be any more proud of this team this past season.
(CHIEF ENGINEER)
"I loved this season especially because I got to drive the robot at every competition and be chief engineer and help with every single aspect of the robot. I loved working on "Blue" and getting to make memories with the best people I know"
(CONSTRUCTION CAPTAIN)
"Crescendo by far has been my favorite season, it was the only season that I experienced and won with my team and also the most favorable bot I built for us."
"I enjoyed the energy of everything, everything felt alive. I expected things to be a lot more quiet, a lot more professional, but when I say it wasn’t as professional I mean it was more energized, it wasn’t as formal as I thought it would be. It was like being at a football game, and watching these teams go crazy over scoring a foam note, it made me happy. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. "
(CHEER CAPTAIN)
"Well, Crescendo I would say was very fun because that year I became “Cheer Captain” and it was very fun hyping up the stands and what not. Then we went to San Antonio which I guess was my first overnight competition. So, it was very fun this year and it was very different from the last two years that I did robotics, and basically I would say that was very fun. We won two championships this year."
(MENTOR)
"We built a dinosaur that shot laser beams! Crescendo was much easier, especially with the notes."
(CHIEF ENGINEER & STRATEGIST)
"A very good learning experience that showed the process of designing and working together as a team and how efficient it can be. It acts like a sport with how much time and effort the people put into the success of the robot. The hype at matches is actually crazy especially considering that year cause we did multiple upsets that we were not projected to win."
(CONSTRUCTION CAPTAIN)
"This was the first year I was involved. I didn't do much in "Charged Up". It was just fun building the robot, being in the pit, doing all that kind of stuff, and WINNING."
