The Game
What was Destination: Deep Space?
The 2019 Destination: Deep Space, presented by Boeing, challenged teams to prepare a rocket for launch by collecting and securing valuable cargo.
Hatch Panels: Circular disks used to seal cargo holds on rockets and cargo ships, preventing cargo from spilling.
Cargo: Orange rubber balls representing the payload that teams placed into the cargo bays of rockets and cargo ships.
Sandstorm Period: In the first 15 seconds, robots operated autonomously or were controlled by drivers using limited visibility, simulating a sandstorm.
Endgame: Robots climbed onto the HAB Platform for additional points, with higher platforms offering greater rewards.
The game required teams to balance strategy, precision, and teamwork as they built versatile robots capable of scoring points through effective cargo management and challenging climbs.
Our Robot
This was our first robot that we had ever made. Our rookie year gave us chances to not only learn and get used to the building of a robot each season, but gave us chances to win awards and win more matches than we thought we could ever win. This was the robot that started the legacy that we choose to continue today. Even though we didn't receive the outcome we hoped, we were gifted with the experience and the thrills of this amazing competition.
