The Skills Development Service helps students build academic, information, and digital skills through workshops, one-to-one support, drop-ins, and self-directed resources. Whether you want to strengthen your study skills, make the most of your library services, or sharpen up your use of digital tools for learning, we're here to help!
We support students in three key areas:
Coursework Essentials like tackling procrastination, essay writing, note-taking, revision strategies, and time management.
Library Skills including how to find reliable sources, use the library effectively, and reference correctly.
Digital Skills such as using Outlook and OneDrive, accessibility tools, and college systems like Canvas.
You can access support in the way that suits you best:
Self-directed resources you can use anytime, anywhere.
Drop-ins where you can ask quick questions or get study advice.
Workshops on essential topics throughout the year.
One-to-one skills development appointments.
To help you get off to a great start, we’ll be offering opportunities during Welcome Week designed to introduce you to key digital tools, library services, and study skills.
These sessions will give you a head start on what to expect, how to find support, and how to make the most of your time at college.
They're a great way to build your confidence and settle in before classes begin. Keep an eye on your inbox for your invite!
