The video below introduces Microsofts Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool called Copilot.
Copilot is the Microsoft AI (artificial intelligence) tool that you can access as part of your college 365 account. It is an additional web app that adds another level to searching the web, allowing you to direct the search by asking additional questions, like in a conversation.
You can ask Copilot both simple and complex questions; use it for research; request summaries of articles, books, the news and more. The more specific you are with your query, the more specific the results will be.
Copilot works best with Microsoft (MS)Edge browser, see below how to access Edge browser.
Web-based Copilot via Microsoft Edge browser
Edge browser is already installed on College PC's:
You will find the MS Edge browser icon on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen when you log in to college devices, click the Icon to open the Edge browser (see image)
Then click the Copilot icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen, this will open the Copilot chat window.
If you do not already have MS Edge you can download Edge to your PC, Laptop or Mac.
Scroll down to find videos and guides showing you how to use Copilot in the Instructional guides and videos section.
You can also download the Edge app to your smartphone or tablet. Login using your college email account (your student number @cityofglacol.ac.uk) and password.
The mobile app is available for Android and iOS, Download Edge to your mobile device.
This video explains how to access Copilot through the Edge app on a mobile device.
We encourage staff and students to make the most of AI tools - they are an effective support to your learning - but you should never attempt to pass off work that is generated by AI as your own and if you use AI, you should on every occasion give it appropriate attribution.
City of Glasgow College is committed to academic integrity across all our learning and teaching activity and has joined UK universities and colleges in promising to protect and promote academic integrity. That means pledging to uphold the key values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility in our work. We also expect our students to uphold the same values in their studies and to give credit where other people’s work or ideas have been used as references.

Here are the key point to remember when using AI tools:
You must fact-check the information AI tools generate, as it may not be accurate or up to date
AI will support your studies, but you must never attempt to pass off work that is generated by AI as your own.
If you use AI, you should on every occasion give it appropriate attribution or it could be considered plagiarism and breach of Academic Integrity.
