After teachers evaluate students' work, and put in comments, the document will be returned to the students. From the student's point of view, it means that teacher has evaluated the assignment and nothing needs to be done.

When students “Turn In” work in Google Classroom the ownership of the document switches from the student to the teacher. The document becomes “View only.”
After turning in work, the student has the option to “UNSUBMIT.” If a student accidentally submitted or they need editing access back at a later point the student can click on the “Unsubmit” button in Google Classroom. This way the students gains edit access to their own documents.
When a student submits work, unsubmits work or resubmits work this is documented for the teacher. In the assignment grading screen, choose “See submission history” beneath the students name in the right-hand panel.
