2019 Weekly Progress

This is what we did in 2019!

12/10/19

We are updating the website and taking inventory, getting ready for the 2020 season. We are very excited about the 2020 kickoff on January 4th!

4/4/19

ProDigi competed in their 3rd and final regional on March 29th and 30th. In the first two regionals, we placed near the bottom. We have faced many challenges and struggles this season, however, we still believed that we could overcome those challenges, so we entered the third competition.

In our third competition, we finished in 38th place after the qualification rounds but their hard work and skills didn't go unnoticed. During alliance selection, they were chosen by Team 3926 MPArors and Team 2882 FRED (Warroad) to create the 4th seed alliance. Working together, our alliance beat the 5th seed alliance in the quarterfinals. ProDigi swept our semifinal matches and headed into the finals.

We lost to a very strong team and finished in 2nd place, but since two of the first-place teams already qualified for the FIRST World Robotic Competition,  ProDigi secured a wildcard spot into the World Championship and will be heading to Detroit, MI! The Championship is April 24th - 27th. With so little time to fundraise, we are asking for help from our community to get us there.  We are hoping to raise $10,000 to cover the costs of transportation, lodging, and the event fee.

Last day of building season. We weren't able to compete in any rounds in Nevis due to the swerve drive programming needing some work. Most team members want to name our new robot Big Chaingus.

Our new robot looks somewhat like our old robot. Either way, the most important parts should be done before we head to Nevis on Saturday for Week 0, which isn't a competition.

2/1/19

The Junkyard robot for the 2019 Great Northern Railcar competition is starting to look like what it's supposed to look like in the end, although it is not done. There was no school or Robotics meeting on Tuesday or Wednesday, so people weren't able to work on the main robot. In the woodshop, people are working on the Rocket so that we can make sure the robot we eventually create will be able to put a cover on one of the holes.

Today, people finished nameplates for members of the school board members and district office personnel. They have tags on them saying the name of whoever wrote on them and "Thank you for supporting First Robotics."

Robotics is getting more and more exciting by the day! We're starting to hear LOTS of loud noises in the shop classrooms.

1/21/2019

We don't have school today since it's Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but some of us are still here (there's not many though).

1/14/2019

Learning to program is tough stuff. Luckily, we've got some pretty great mentors from Digi-Key to help us! We're also seeing our ideas for the robot become a reality.

Another long day of robotics, and we're working hard and sticking our heads together. We're finally starting to get to the physical aspects of working on the robot, but we're still doing a lot of pen-to-paper planning!

Today was our "FIRST" practice! We're beginning to spark some ideas and build ourselves as a team. Today is mostly just us getting oriented, welcoming newbies, and eating lots of pizza.
