The first step of the engineering process is defining the problem. To do this, my group sat together and began brainstorming possible issues that we could pursue.

Eventually, we decided that using post-it notes to arrange ideas, then later copying into our notebooks, was a better way of going about our brainstorming

When we started running out of post-it notes, we moved to a digital solution for our brainstorming: Google Jamboard. We also started noting possible solutions we came up with along with issues that we thought up.

Generally,we tried color coding the notes:
- Blue - Main Idea/Problem
- Pink - Sub-idea/problem
- Green, Yellow, Orange - possible solution
We tried one angle of thinking of solutions by listing different types of people and trying to think of problems that each of those people would go experience.

After a few days of brainstorming ideas, we collected all of our possible solutions together and attempted to sort through them:

- Pink - Completely unviable and/or completely disinteresting
- Yellow - Somewhat viable and/or interesting
- Green - Viable and interesting

We were given the option for projects that did not require coding, but instead high communication with an end user. We continued brainstorming ideas and put them into a separate category to distinguish them.

Reflection: Our brainstorming process, during the problem phase, was overall very unproductive. We struggled to think of ideas, and the few ideas we came up with seemed nonviable or uninteresting. We suggest doing research on issues requiring solutions, or talking with different people of different professions for issues they encounter during their work.
