Conference Guidance 

ORDER OF THE DAY

The conference will run on Thursday 14th September 2023

The full agenda can be found on the next page with full timings and team links to join the rooms.

The day will start at 9am, allowing people time to join the main room for the welcome and introductions which will then commence at 09:15.

All sessions from 09:30 to 12:00 will be in the main room and can be accessed by the main room link.

Lunch break will run from 12:00-12:45. A mid-morning and mid-afternoon break are also built into the day.

In the afternoon, everyone will re-join the main room for a short presentation and then from 13:20-15:10 there are workshops running. There are a choice of 6 workshops running, with two always running at the same time- therefore, you will be able to attend a maximum of three workshops in total. You can select the workshop you want to attend by clicking on the workshop teams link.

The day will close with a summary 15:10-15:30. We would ask at the close of the day that you kindly complete an evaluation to helps us plan and develop future events.

All presentations will be recorded and made available after the conference. If you do not want to appear on any recordings then please do contact us and feel free to have your camera turned off.

NETIQUETTE

We ask that people kindly mute themselves during all of the presentations and workshops. There is time at the end of each session to ask questions, by raising a hand and unmuting. Please use the chat function to type questions in and these will be presented to the speaker to answer at the end of the session.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What happens if I cannot access the the conference?

A. If you struggle to join the conference in the morning via the main room link or any of the session links then please contact the event organisers Claire Staniland c.staniland@shu.ac.uk and Aimee France aimee.france@shu.ac.uk. We have IT support during the day and so will try to help you.

Q. How do I join the presentations, where are the links?

A. All teams links to join the sessions can be found on the agenda page of this resource. Just click on the link and it will take you to the correct room.

Q. How can I ask questions throughout the day?

A. We will use teams chat for any questions. The questions will be put to the speaker at the end of their presentation. Each speaker will allow time for questions at the end of their presentation and at this point you can also raise a hand and ask a question to the speaker. Please just wait until the end of the presentations to ask questions directly. If your questions do not get answered or you would like to contact the speaker after, they may have given contact details in their biographies (see speaker page).

Q. How do I choose and access a workshop in the afternoon?

A. In the afternoon there are 6 workshops, but two will always run at the same time, so you will have to choose between them (so you will attend three workshops in total). You can select which workshop out of the two you want to attend by simply clicking on the relevant teams link (on the agenda page) and this will take you directly to the room.

Q. What happens if I want to attend more than one workshop at a time?

A. Please just select one workshop at a time to join and the other workshop running at the same time will be recorded so that you can watch this after the conference. All sessions and workshop recordings will be place on the session recordings page of this resource after the conference.
