KING ECGBERT SCHOOL

WELCOME

We are excited to tell you about a big project at King Ecgbert School! We are starting to build a brand-new Library Learning Centre at our Totley Brook Road site. It will have separate classrooms and IT suites.

This great new building fits right in with the Department for Education's plan for building schools in the UK. This nationwide project aims to give schools like King Ecgbert modern and flexible learning spaces that will help create a lively and stimulating learning setting for our students.

HISTORY

King Ecgbert School has a long history that goes back to the early 1900s when it opened in Sheffield as an all-girls secondary school. The school used to be on a different site. In the middle of the 20th century, it was led by the famous headmistress "Kitty" Coates and was known for having strict rules. In 1969, King Ecgbert joined with two other nearby schools to form a comprehensive school for both boys and girls. The school changed into an academy in 2012, which made room for a new £25 million building on Totley Brook Road that can hold more than 1,400 children.

PROJECT SUMMARY

Design and construction of a new building block on the existing school site to house:

The new building has to be put up on the school's Totley Brook Road grounds, which means that the work has to be carefully planned and staged to cause as little trouble as possible.

I am in charge of handling the Critical Path Method (CPM), which means I have to make sure that the new, state-of-the-art building for King Ecgbert School is designed, planned, bought, and built all at the same time. Close cooperation with all project partners is necessary to make sure the project runs smoothly. Within the Totley Brook Road site, it is my major job to oversee the design, planning, purchasing, and building of this state-of-the-art learning center to make sure it is finished successfully.
