Summary
This year's class was extremely interested in the job of being a first responder. They wanted to know more about their duties and everything their job entails because a lot of them are interested in that career field for when they grow up. We reached out to a local first responder and asked what was needed in our community. From this, we decided on doing a blanket drive to build a collection of blankets that we could donate to our local Meadows Valley First Responders to help keep people warm during emergencies in the cold winters in our community. The class was split into first responder groups based on their personal interests: Firefighter, Police Officer, and EMT. Each group conducted an interview with a local professional in that field as well as researched the jobs to find out even more information.
Our group interested in Firefighters interviewed Meadows Valley Fire Chief, Doug Buys.
This group, interested in EMTs, interviewed Meadows Valley EMT and Firefighter, Leandra Smith.
This group, interested in Police Officers, interviewed Idaho State Trooper, Andrew Fisher.
The second grade class made a video to help advertise and inform people on the blanket drive to support our community.
