Ms. Nock will print your image on transparency and you will make a darkroom print using f-8 for 10 seconds. Develop/dry and physically show it for grading. Store it in your binder alongside the transparency.
This semester we will be experimenting with alternative film and darkroom processes.
Before we can begin those projects, every student must shoot and develop one new roll of film.
All photos must be taken outside or in bright natural light (window light is allowed).
No flash.
No dark indoor rooms.
Shoot a full 24-exposure roll of film. Here is the breakdown shot list:
6 Portraits (people)
12 Outdoor / Nature photos
6 Still Life photos (objects you arrange)
Every image should show:
Strong composition
Proper exposure
A clear focal point
These images will become the foundation for your darkroom and alternative process work.
HOW to use the elements and principles for this shot list
Portraits (shoot 6)
Try:
Light and shadow across the face (Form, Value)
Simple backgrounds (Emphasis)
Framing with doors, trees, or windows (Space)
Outdoor/Nature (shoot 12)
Try:
Paths, branches, or fences leading into the frame (Line, Movement)
Repeating leaves or posts (Pattern)
Sky against land or buildings (Contrast)
Still Life (shoot 6)
Try:
Window light on objects (Value, Texture)
One strong main object (Emphasis)
Grouped objects arranged carefully (Balance, Unity)
