Jerry Crutchfield was a Paducah-born (1934-2022) country and pop record producer, songwriter, and musician. Crutchfield started his career in the music business at Benton, Kentucky's WCBL radio station while taking morning classes at Murray State in the mid-1950s. Crutchfield recorded music with his vocal group, The Country Gentlemen, for RCA Victor Records, then moved to Nashville and transitioned into record production and publishing.
While in Nashville, Crutchfield spent almost 30 years at MCA Music Publishing, now Universal Music Publishing, a major presence in Music City. He produced many number-one hits and gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums. Some of his best-known collaborators include Glen Campbell, Lee Greenwood, Anne Murray, Tanya Tucker, and Tammy Wynette. Crutchfield is also a two-time Country Music Association Song of the Year Award winner as a producer.
