Dual Enrollment

Muhlenberg High School and Reading Area Community College (RACC) have an established Dual Enrollment Agreement and approved many Muhlenberg High School courses as dual enrollment courses. Students enrolled in an MHS dual enrollment eligible course may choose to participate in the dual enrollment program.  This program is at the student’s expense. Dual enrollment courses are typically 3 or 4 credits and cost approximately $99/credit. All dual enrollment courses are offered during the school day at MHS. By choosing to participate in the program, students pay tuition directly to RACC, and in turn - college credits are earned while the student is currently in high school.  Below is the list of courses that have been approved for the dual enrollment program, along with RACC’s course equivalencies. **This list is updated annually and is subject to change** Enrollment is voluntary and takes place in September at the student’s expense. HOW DO YOU PAY YOUR BILL?

RACC will send a bill directly to your home address by October 31st and payment is due upon receipt. All payments are handled by RACC. If you have questions regarding payments or scholarships, please contact the RACC Financial Aid Office (610)607-6225.

Exciting news from RACC:

Reading Area Community College (RACC) received a $1 million Dual Credit Innovation Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to expand the delivery of dual enrollment course offerings to existing and new partnerships. For the 2026–2027 school year, all dual enrollment students will receive funding for one free 3-credit course, valued at $297. There will be an optional section on the application that we will use for data reporting and accounting purposes for both the DE Scholarship and the grant. **There will not be a separate scholarship application this year. Upon registration of a DE course, the $297 credit may not appear on the student’s initial invoice. Students are responsible for paying the amount shown on the invoice minus the $297 scholarship award. 

In addition:

We will continue to offer the DE student summer scholarship in 2027! This is a summer scholarship opportunity for all dual enrollment students who take a course in fall and/or spring. Earn the opportunity to take up to two summer courses (max 8 credits) at the dual enrollment rate of $99/credit, inclusive of all fees (this does not include eTextbooks, textbooks, and/or course materials). The summer course must be immediately following the academic school year in which the student took the dual enrollment course.

Kutztown University and several local school districts have joined forces to offer our students an early start to their college education through the Early College Academy at Kutztown University. You can find more information here. This program is only offered to seniors at the student’s expense and cost approximately $110/credit. Students enrolled in this program will take introductory courses towards a degree in Education or Exploratory Studies at Kutztown University 3 days per week and will participate in an internship with Muhlenberg School District 2 days per week in the mornings. They will complete their high school courses at MHS in the afternoons. By choosing to participate in the program, students pay tuition directly to Kutztown, and will earn 12 college credits over the course of their senior year and have the ability to participate in over 200 hours of internship. 

Eligibility:

• Must be a senior

• Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher

• Attendance and behavior are also considered

**Cost is determined by Kutztown University and is subject to change.
