APPLYING TO A 2 OR 4 YEAR COLLEGE

1. Apply to the college(s) of your choice at the actual college website

• • • • If you are applying to many schools, you may want to utilize the Common App which allows you to apply to over 700 colleges Common App Webpage

• • • • Some colleges use the Coalition application, which can be used to apply to about 150 colleges. Coalition Application

2. After you submit your college application please login into your Naviance account and request your transcript.

          *For Common App -  please follow the instructions on Naviance to link your Common App to your Naviance account.

3. If you need a letter of recommendation:

*First - complete this BRAG SHEET  

           If you applied using the college website:

• • • • You MUST allow at least 2 weeks for your teachers to write and submit letters of recommendations.  

      • You must log in to Naviance and request a recommendation.  

           If you applied using the Common App:

• • • • You must follow the instructions in the Naviance to link your Common App to your Naviance account.                 

4. If your college requires SAT or ACT scores you need to log into those accounts and request that those scores are sent to your colleges. College Board Website     ACT Website  

6. Apply for scholarships- see Scholarships tab

7. Create your StudentAid.gov account here. Use a personal email address and store your login information somewhere safe. **Parent/guardians must also create their own account. 

8. Complete the FAFSA and PAY ATTENTION TO DEADLINES!
