1. Create a StudentAid.gov Account (formerly FSA ID)

Need: Social security number and active email address (not your school email)
The username/password you create is verified with the Social Security Administration and is used to electronically sign your FAFSA.
Must create StudentAid.gov account BEFORE accessing the FAFSA
Contributors to your FAFSA (typically at least 1 parent) must also create a StudentAid.gov account.
2. Start the FAFSA- OPENS OCTOBER 1, 2025

Choose "Start 2026-2027 FAFSA"
3. Follow instructions for completing application
Complete the demographic section
List the schools that will receive your FAFSA information. Add every school you are considering, even if you haven't received an acceptance letter
Complete the dependency status questions
Fill out the parent demographic section.
Provide financial information
Sign and submit your FAFSA
