Language Learning Experience

After a being introduced to Chinese in college, I found tremendous success and confidence during my first study abroad semester in Xiamen. From then on, most of my foreign language ability was acquired through self-study and immersion, which is how I gained intermediate proficiency during my two years in Japan and novice-high proficiency during my one year in Korea. Upon returning to China I spent two years in formal language study and three years studying applied linguistics taught in Chinese at the Overseas Education College of Xiamen University.
