¡Hola! My name is Laura López, and I am a current Spanish language tutor for high school and college students with experience teaching Spanish in the classroom to PK3 through 8th grade students in WI and IL. I live with my family along the border of IL and WI, and we speak both Spanish and English in our home.
As a native English speaker, I began my own world language learning journey as a middle school student in WI. However, I really discovered my love of languages as an undergraduate student at Dartmouth College when I took my first linguistics class. While at Dartmouth, I studied abroad in Puebla, Mexico and received a fellowship to teach English in the Dominican Republic for five months. Living, studying and working abroad further developed my linguistic and intercultural competence and my passion for learning and teaching languages.
My participation in the MAFLT program at MSU has provided me with the opportunity to grow and reflect upon my teaching practices. This portfolio site showcases what I have learned and how I have developed as an educator and leader throughout my time in the MAFLT program.
