Quantitative Literacy & Statistics

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Geometry.

This course meets the district's requirement to offer a transitional math. So long as a student has already completed 6 semesters of high school math prior to enrolling in this course, successful completion of this course with a C or better will allow students to be placed in a college level math course at any Illinois Community College.

This mathematics elective will focus on three basic areas of competencies: numeracy, algebra, and functions and modeling. Throughout this year-long course students will experience an application approach to algebraic topics while developing a better understanding of number sense. The project-based and modeling approach to the curriculum will help connect classroom mathematics and statistics to everyday life, work, and decision making.
