Monterey High Drama is a comprehensive, hands-on, theatrical arts training program focused on creating well-rounded theatre professionals. Students have the opportunity to study and participate in all aspects of theatre production such as acting, directing, stage management, scenic design, set construction, lighting/sound/costume design, and publicity.
The Drama program offers several A-G theatre courses as well as dual enrollment MPC Courses where students earn transferable college credits. A list of the courses includes Musical Theatre, Professional Actors Training, Stage and Studio Production, DP Theatre HL (IB), and MPC Thea 15A (Beginning Acting), Thea 1(Intro to Theatre), Thea 4 (Intercultural Theatre), Thea 5 (Film Appreciation), and Thea 74D (Theatre Production).
MHS Drama’s theatre company The MHS Players produces several theatrical productions per school year that are open to all students who wish to participate. Information about past and upcoming productions can be found at www.mhsplayers.com.
