10th grade students who plan to take IB Biology are strongly encouraged to substitute 10th grade Biology with Chemistry.
10th grade students are placed in the appropriate Math course by their Math teacher.
Students who receive Special Education services are placed in the appropriate core classes by their Case Manager.
Students who receive English Language Learner services are placed in the appropriate core classes by teachers, based on their ACESS scores, WIDA level, and current progress.
Electives and Other Graduation Requirements:
Students need to complete one semester of Fit for Life and one semester of Health to graduate. Many students complete this requirement in their 9th grade year. If a 10th grade student has not yet taken Fit for Life or Health, they can register to take the classes in their Sophomore year.
Students need to complete one semester of Ethnic Studies to graduate. Students may take these courses at any point in their High School career. Find out more about the Ethnic Studies courses available at Edison here.
10th grade students will round out their schedule with elective courses. Students can select from a variety of Fine Arts, Physical Education, World Language, and academic electives (including AVID). Read more about our course offerings on the Departments page.
