Class Overview
This is an online elective class that you can do at Roosevelt! Students who complete and pass the course are awarded a .5 credit. This course is all about becoming a heavy equipment operator! Learn about the equipment, daily job duties, union, wages and benefits! We cover multiple topics in regard to this construction avenue. This is a great place to learn about what it's like to work in a skilled trade!
Class Schedule
There are 2 LIVE meets a week and the rest of your class period is individual work. The curriculum was created by the actual Operating Engineers and has interactive assignments, discussions, and videos to help you learn the skills you'll need to succeed in this and other skilled trades careers.
Benefits of this course
Have a chance to still have Ms. Ludowese (now Mrs. DesChamps) as your teacher! This class is the entry level course to a series of courses offered through Minnesota Virtual Academy and the Local 49ers Union. The classes that follow include Construction Grade Math, Fundamentals of Equipment, and more. With taking this class, you will have the opportunity to take field trips to the 49s training facility and use the simulations and real equipment.

ICATT is unique in the realm of our CCC Corner Apprenticeship resources because it offers a structured program that students apply for.
During the ICATT Apprenticeship Program, students will learn valuable skills and theoretical training that prepare you for a career in manufacturing or other high-tech field. Every apprentice who successfully completes the program is guaranteed to learn have the skills that companies need and want. Most ICATT Network Companies even offer a 2-year employment guarantee upon successful completion.

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (MNDLI) website is our state's home-base for people working in and drawn towards careers in skilled trades.The agency oversees the state's programs for apprenticeship, construction codes and licensing, dual-training pipeline, occupational safety and health, wage and hour standards, workers' compensation and youth skills training programs.
