Opportunities captured in this section aim to give students specific experiences to increase their understanding of a given type of work, thinking, or skill. These opportunities may be one-time events, or take place over a set period of time. Enrichment opportunities like the ones listed below look great on resumés, can help you learn more about your interests, and can build valuable skills for your future! DETAILS: Rooted in STEM brings together 11th and 12th grade students to learn about STEM academics and community support at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Along with an undergraduate mentor, participants will relate their individual identities and experiences within STEM. The program requires one Saturday per month October through April
Each month, participants will network with peers while learning about current topics in research and academic programs, and explore potential careers. There will be presentations, laboratory tours, science and technology demonstrations, and Q&A sessions. Presenters will include College of Science and Engineering faculty and graduate researchers, recent alumni in industry, and current undergraduate students. DETAILS: Discover and share your voice and story, enhance your critical thinking and develop your college readiness. Whether you dream of pursuing journalism, digital media arts or strategic communication, or you’re just exploring, ThreeSixty helps prepare you for success. Over the program, you’ll write an opinion and editorial (op-ed) story for the #360YouthVoiceChallenge with the support of journalists and other professionals. Then, you’ll turn your written piece into an audio slideshow.

DETAILS: Are you interested in a career in the medical field? Would you like to make connections with working medical professionals? Then check out the TCO Medical Mentoring Program! Students selected for the program will be mentored by medical health professionals and have many job shadowing experiences.
The professionals that will mentor the students include doctors, physical and occupational therapists, nurses, nurse anesthetists, and physician assistants. In addition to their mentorship, student participants can expect a $1,000 scholarship after completing their program!

DETAILS: The St. Catherine University Fashion Design and Merchandising department invites you to participate in the 2nd annual Fashion Competition!
The St. Catherine University Fashion Competition is an apparel design competition for young, aspiring high school fashion designers. The competition places an emphasis on social responsibility as we challenge high school students to design a fashion piece (a face mask or t-shirt design) that engages a social justice message or uses sustainable materials and/or sustainable production processes.
Engage your creativity, see the designs of other high school students, and get to know St. Kate’s and the faculty of our fashion department. There will be awesome prizes, and registration is free! Click here for the guide and additional details
