Whether you're looking for a STEP Up summer job, hoping to build your skills with a PROJECT SUCCESS Institute Workshop, or want to prepare for college with College Possible, Roosevelt has you covered. Opportunities in this category are great for students who are seeking opportunities to build their skills. Are you hoping to improve skills like goal setting or communication? Maybe you're hoping to pick up specific knowledge like how to cook, financial literacy, or learning how to code. Check out the opportunities in this section if you're to take part in programs that can help you learn more about yourself, what you like, and work with others who have similar interest.
All students are eligible for BEACONS after-school programming, 9th—12th graders.
BEACONS offers a variety of after-school programming, sourced directly from the input of students. After-school program- ming includes:
BEACONS programming begins at 3:30 and goes until 5:30pm Monday—Thursday. However, dinner for all students begins at 3pm, before club programming!

There’s no need to apply, because Project Success offers its programming to all Roosevelt students!
Project SUCCESS offer in-class workshops to all students. Additionally, they offer free college tours, free theater tickets for students and their families, and free after-school Institute workshops covering specific interests and life-readiness topics.
Workshops for all grade levels are once a month in students' English classes. College tours, theater, and Institute programming happen throughout the year. Check out the links below for info on upcoming programming

The YA! Program is open to Latinx high school students in and around Saint Paul and Minneapolis who are pursuing graduation and interested in college.
Youth in Action (YA!) Program supports and guides Latinx high school students as they work to achieve their hopes and dreams through group activities. Participation is free and transportation is provided for students living in or around the Saint Paul and Minneapolis Metro areas. Some of the activities YA! CLUES’ offers are:
Monthly Leadership Institutes held on a college campus;
Individual mentors, paired one-on-one with students, that are professionals in their field;
Academic support;
College preparation;
and much more!!
Programming is held year-round in alignment with the school year. Coaching Institutes held monthly September through June:
New student applications are accepted March through June for the following academic year’s programming starting in September. The application includes demographic information, reference contact information and an essay. Check back later for a link to the application!
This section is for students who are interested for learning more about their choices after high school, or for students who want to fine-tune their post high school plans. Many of these opportunities require some sort of application and dedicated, consistent participation to build your preparedness for college. Check out these programs if you're a 10th, 11th, or 12 grader that wants to get the ball rolling on preparing for college.
Students can apply in the spring of their Sophomore year or the Fall of their Junior Year. Families must meet CP’s financial requirements, students must have a 2.0 GPA or above, and may be required to interview with coaches.
CP offers 320+ hours of both 1:1 coaching. and group-based support. After-school sessions consist of curriculum-based college prep workshops, with different lessons each session.
After applying sophomore year and being admitted, Juniors meet with coaches 2 times a month, while seniors meet with coaches 2 times a week.

Ernst & Young supports Juniors and Seniors in cohort based mentoring. Students are selected by RHS staff.
EY College MAP offers cohort-based mentoring with EY professionals. Once a month, students come together with EY professionals after school for college prep workshops. Students become eligible for exclusive scholarships at the end of their program during their senior year!
Both Juniors and Seniors meet once a month right after school. Connect with either Ms. Amanda or Mr. Eric for the specific meeting days and times for each cohort.

Rising Seniors
Rotary Club of Minneapolis' STRIVE (Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Education) is a program where Rotary Club members work with high school students to improve their school performance during their senior year and provide motivation, preparation, and support in their after high school planning. Rotary Club Mentors will be local Southside Minneapolis residents who can offer unique insights and local perspectives as they support students.
This program also offers opportunities to connect directly with representatives of local 2 Year Colleges, as well as college tours, to learn more about life on the campus of our local community and technical colleges
Participating students will also get access to exclusive scholarships!
More information will be available when recruitment begins, but students can anticipate monthly sessions with Rotary Club members. Sessions will be a combination of whole group activities, as well a small group breakouts for mentees to connect with Rotary Club Mentors.

Primarily available to RHS 9th graders! Students persist with UB until their senior year. But, 10th and 11th graders can join as spots are available.
UB offers students academic planning while in high school, as well as college planning. Tutoring sessions and college visits can also be set up through UBVQ. Finally, UB offers unique over-night residential experiences at select colleges!
Student participants are members during the entire academic year. UB also offers 6 week residential program during the summer on college campuses.

This section is great for students that want to build their professional skills and make money while doing it! Are you interested in learning what it's like to work for a big company? Are you passionate about careers in technology, healthcare, or the trades? Check out the programs in this section whether you're just getting started building your professional skills, or if you're looking to improve them.
All 11th Grade Students are encouraged to apply! No minimum GPA is required for Genesys Works applicants. This is a great program for students interested in working in Technology or students interested in seeing what it's like to work for a large business firm.
Genesys Works offers professional, paid, year-long internship in Business or Information Technology (IT). College & Career Coaching beyond high school and access to our network of partners
Genesys Works programming is made up of two portions, your training and your summer training and your paid internship
Training: Summer of students' senior year (June to Aug.)
Internship: August (just before the beginning of your senior year) to August (the summer after your senior year).

Step Up is available for students ranging from 15 to 21 years old. Students must live within the Minneapolis city limits in order to be eligible. This is a great opportunity to get on-the-job experience for all 9th - 12th Graders!
Step Up provides students with paid summer internship opportunities with Twin Cities orgs and corporations. Students are supported with professional skills training, as well as interview and resume prep. Learn more about the program by clicking here.

Step Up is available for students ranging from 14 to 24 years old. Students must be residents of the City of St. Paul in order to be eligible. This is a great opportunity to get on-the-job experience for all 9th - 12th Graders!
Right Track connects Saint Paul youth with meaningful training, work, and career exploration opportunities so they are better prepared to thrive in the workforce. Right Track is similar to Step Up, but tailored for students residing in St. Paul. Check out the types of jobs Right Track offers by clicking here.
Student can apply in the winter. Admitted students will begin training in the spring. Most Right Track summer jobs and internships will begin in June, and will last 6 to 11 weeks depending on the position

Are you interested in working with your hands? This program is perfect for juniors and seniors who are passionate and interested in pursuing a career in the Trades Industry. Trades Ambassadors are advocates for careers in the Trades and are ambassadors for the Trades Hub. This website invites students to explore career paths in the Trades Industry with videos.
New Trades Ambassadors are selected in the Spring of 2020. Ambassadors keep their role for the length of the school year.
Application processes will begin in the Spring and can be submitted in part by completing a Step Up or Right Track application. Apps can also be submitted to the current RHS Trades Ambassadors.
