Direct Admissions is a program through the Minnesota Office of Higher Education designed to make sure all high school students know that they have options for education and training after high school through Minnesota’s colleges. This program aims to reduce anxiety by telling students which colleges they have already met the admissions standards for, waiving all application fees, and streamlining the admissions process. Whether students want to attend a 4-year university, 2-year community college, trade school or technical college, ALL students can take the next step and earn a crednetial that results in career success. Below you will find Tiers 1-6, basic on your GPA certain colleges will give student direct admission to the college or university. Students are still responsible to submitting a college application. Any questions, please email your Counselor.
Direct Admissions means a student has guaranteed admittance to one of the colleges or universities they've applied to. The DA program assures students are committed to admitting them, but students still must apply to the colleges they're interested in their Senior Year to secure their spot for the Fall!
But how do students know what colleges they can apply to? A number of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities as well as Minnesota Private Colleges are partnered with the Office of Higher Education for Direct Admit. Students are accepted to colleges and universities based on their current GPA and the courses they have completed by the end of their Junior year.
Check out the Tier lists below for an overview of the GPA threshholds, and which colleges students at those threshholds are eligible for by clicking the dropdowns.
